In District 7, four-term incumbent Commissioner Dean Kicklighter will defend his seat on the board against challenger A. Wallace-McCoy.

Now in his 20th year as an elected representative, Kicklighter previously served as a mayor pro tem and the mayor of Garden City. He was elected 7th District Commission at the age of 30, and is now in his 16th year in that post.

Kicklighter says that while serving as mayor of Garden City, he spearheaded annexation efforts that doubled the city’s size and population. During his 20 years as an elected official, he says, he has never voted for new or increased property taxes.

Kicklighter is a lifelong resident of Chatham County, and has lived in the city of Pooler for the past 16 years. He attended Valdosta State College and works as a cosmetologist at his family owned business, Randell and Dean’s. He previously worked as a Realtor with Ben Farmer Realty.

He is the father of two young adults, whom he describes as his “pride and joy.”
