In District 6, incumbent Commissioner Lori Brady, a local real estate agent, is running for a second term in November against challenger James “Jay” Jones, a customer service manager.

Before she was elected to the county commission in 2012, Brady served for 16 years on the Savannah-Chatham school board. While serving in that post, she held a number of leadership positions including vice chair, vice chair pro tem, legislative liaison and chair of the Georgia Education Coalition.

Brady says she supports low taxes and has not supported a tax increase during her tenure. She was involved in making policy changes under the new police merger agreement with the city of Savannah and has worked to increase property maintenance oversight in her district with a focus on blighted areas.

A lifelong resident of Chatham County’s 6th District, Brady has been married 35 years to her husband, Bob. They have two adult children.
